Scientific Process
Anthropometric Identification

The work at the forensic and funerary lab consists in a large and thorough chain of activities.

When the osseous remains arrive to the lab, they are organised and cleaned in order to facilitate its interpretation. This way, all the data which they can contribute is revealed without alter their stability.

The next step is to put those remains into their anatomic position to obtain a global vision of the individual they belonged to. After that, through anthropometric analysis, we obtain data referring to identifying parameters such as:

  • Individual’s gender
  • Individual’s age at the time of death
  • Estimation of individual’s height
  • Estimation of the individual’s constitution before death

The main objective is to obtain information about the individual to be able to corroborate its identity.
